Based on the Mission Statement, the Curriculum at Notre Dame College aims to develop the intellectual, social, physical, aesthetic and spiritual aspects of every student. While engineering a love and enjoyment of learning, it also encourages individuals to attain their full potential. As part of this development process, appreciation of culture and beauty are valued as is the growth of personal responsibility. |
AREAS OF STUDY
Religious Education aims at leading students to examine the signs of the times and to interpret them in the light of the Gospel. The programs offered at Notre Dame College are designed to assist the students to achieve these aims in a manner appropriate to each Year Level. The curriculum is broadly based and and exposes the students to the rich variety of religion but with a clear emphasis on the teaching of Jesus Christ according to the Roman Catholic Church Tradition.
Students are encouraged to deepen and develop their own faith and, through example and attitude, to take the Gospel message out into their communities.

English is an integral component of all studies at the College and as a result the courses concentrate on four main areas: speaking, listening, reading and writing. The English Learning Area aims to provide rich and challenging language experiences where the students learn through immersion in language.

The Mathematics programme aims to ensure that students become mathematically able and confident. The key processes of concept learning, problem solving, modeling and investigation along with skill development and the practice of routines form the basis of this area of learning.

The Science Area of Study focuses on discovery learning through questioning, gathering data, testing and describing. It aims to build on interests, knowledge, understanding and problem solving strategies that the students bring to the classroom.

This Area of Study focuses on helping students develop the knowledge and skills to produce quality products, solve problems or meet needs. It involves students studying mechanical, electrical and other technological systems and also; examining the effects the use of particular technologies or processes has on society and the environment.

The Arts are instrumental in developing the whole person. This Area of Study provides a platform for students to explore, express and communicate their experience of the world. It also encourages technical, aesthetic and expressive competencies together with an appreciation of beauty and culture. |

This Area of Study focuses on helping students develop competence in making decisions and taking action to promote an active, healthy lifestyle. Physical, mental, emotional and moral development are stressed within this context. |

The LOTE programme at Notre Dame College offers two languages; Japanese and Italian. It aims to provide a high level of motivation for students in an environment in which they are encouraged to respect differences amongst people. The study of languages is seen as a continuous, intellectually demanding and essential discipline.

This Area of Study is concerned with human behaviour and endeavour: past, present and future. Particular emphasis is placed on the inquiry based approach which encourages students to learn through investigation.
