Fiji Immersion

There are three separate groups travelling to Fiji this year;

- Fiji A are going to Koroko led by Mr Les Billings and Ms Helen Yeats

- Fiji B are going to Napuka, led by Mr Chris Linehan and Mrs Tiff Chandler

- Fiji C are going to Kankana, led by Mr Glenn Abblitt and Ms Nonie Ward

Group A will be visiting Tunloa Catholic Primary School in the village of Koroko. We have been dropping into this school for the last 10 years, although we have not always stayed for long periods. However, since we began sending multiple groups to Fiji in 2012, we have been staying at this school for a week or more. This is a village school that is very connected to life in the village, so this group will be living a normal Fijian village life for the duration of their stay. The Head Teacher, Master Uliano, hosted a Notre Dame College group in 2016 and 2017; he and his wife Miss Lucy are very excited that we are returning again this year.

Group B will be visiting and staying at Napuka High School, which is the Marist founded school we have been visiting for over 12 years. It is a boarding school with classes from Year 7 to Year 12, plus an extra senior year level which prepares students for university. The Head Teachers of this school have always been willing and generous hosts to us and the local Parish Priest is always very welcoming.

Group C will be visiting St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School in the village of Kanakana. We began visiting this school in 2011 when the Head Teacher at the time invited us to come back and stay longer, so in 2012 we sent a group to stay for a whole week and have been sending groups there ever since. This is a village school that is very connected to life in the village, so this group will be living a normal Fijian village life for the duration of their stay. The Head Teacher, Master James, has been extremely welcoming over the last few years, and along with the Village Leader and staff at the school are very excited about our return. They always have a great range of village activities for the group to attend and become involved in.
