Knight Street Canteen
Notre Dame College employs a Canteen Manager and Assistants to run the Knight Street Canteen. The canteen is open at recess and lunchtime for all students. Students can order their lunch before school each day and pick up from the canteen at the start of lunchtime.
Our aim is to keep prices affordable and offer a wide range of foods. EFTPOS facilities are also available.
Volunteers
We are always looking for volunteers! The canteen is a busy and fun environment to work in, interacting with other parents and staff whilst engaging with our wonderful students. Volunteers work with the Canteen Manager and Assistant on a roster basis (that suits their availability). Volunteers are needed between the hours of 10am - 1:30pm each day.
You will be required to complete a 'volunteer' working with children check (which is quick and free). A link to the form can be found below.

Year 9 Program - Café Emmaus
Café Emmaus is applied learning in action!
It is the canteen for the Year 9 Program as well as the venue for the students to complete their Food Handlers Certificate and some of the other competencies in a VET certificate two in Hospitality.
Each day before lunchtime, a class prepares and serves all the lunch orders and other foods that can be purchased from the café – slices, muffins, cookies, fruit salads, fruit, and yoghurt.
The variety of lunches available is very different to regular school canteens. Students can choose from a menu that changes with the skills of the students. The lunch orders use produce from the vegetable gardens and eggs from the chickens raised by the agriculture students. The café is open at recess and lunchtime each day.
Mercy Blend Cafe
Located by the north-facing windows, opposite the Careers Centre, Mercy Blend Café is a welcoming space for everyone within our school community!
Open School Days
- Before school 8:15am – 8:45am (some breakfast food items available.)
- Recess
The café serves freshly made beverages, including barista-made coffee, delicious hot chocolate and refreshing cold drinks for students and staff to enjoy.
But Mercy Blend Café is about so much more than delicious coffee!
It’s a place to connect, build friendships, develop new skills and be part of a barista family.
Students take an active role in running the café alongside Anita Lemke, gaining valuable front of house experience in preparing and serving beverages, communicating with customers, working as a team and managing everyday café tasks.
Through these opportunities, students can build confidence, develop practical and transferable skills and learn to take on new responsibilities.
