Local Bus Travel (PTV Services)
Is local bus travel free in 2026?
Yes! From 1 January 2026, all public transport in Victoria is free for anyone aged 17 and under, including local buses, trains, trams, and V/Line coaches.
Do I need a bus pass for local buses?
You do not have to register for bus travel as no formal pass is required, but students will need a Youth Myki Card (cost $5) to access free travel.

Country Bus Travel (School Bus Program)
Is country bus travel free in 2026?
Yes! There will be no fares charged for students under 18. However, seat eligibility rules still apply.
How do I apply for a country bus seat?
- Visit the Notre Dame College website → Community → Bus Travel.
- Complete the online application form.
- Paper forms are available upon request, but online applications are preferred.
How long does processing take?
Approximately five business days, longer during peak times or for paper applications.
Can I travel on a country bus without a pass?
NO. If you require a once off country bus pass, or a pass for multiple dates (e.g. travel to Dookie for football training), you are required to submit a request form to the Bus Coordinator at GSSC.
This form must be submitted at least five working days in advance.
Please be aware that your request may be declined or placed on a waitlist if the bus is already at capacity.
NO Ad Hoc passes will be issued in TERM 1 2026 due to the high demand of applications for country bus travel.
