We hope you all had a restful and joyous Easter break. It was a wonderful time to reflect, recharge, and spend quality moments with our loved ones. We were deeply saddened by the news of the passing of the Pope. Pope Francis has been an inspirational leader and has certainly left a lasting legacy all over the world.
Term 2 began last week for our staff who were able to participate in three days of professional development, focussing on the neuroscience of learning. This was exceptionally engaging and provided us with valuable strategies to strengthen our teaching practices and better support our students' learning experiences. This is one of the key areas of the Sandhurst Magnify program that is based on evidence and research to enhance academic growth of all students.
Our parent teacher interviews this week were a wonderful opportunity for constructive conversations and it was lovely to see and speak with so many families. We are also conducting Learning Walks for Years 7 and 9 this week and these are a fantastic opportunity for parents to observe and celebrate the excellent teaching and learning happening throughout our classrooms. It's always inspiring to see our students engaged and thriving in their educational journey.
Next week we have our GMD Winter Sports Carnival on Tuesday, 6 May with many year 9 -12 students participating. This event is an opportunity for our students to showcase their talents and sportsmanship. We wish them the best of luck and are confident they will represent our school with pride.
Looking ahead to next week, we will be participating in Earth Day on Wednesday, 7 May by turning off our lights and other electrical resources for at least one hour. This act symbolises our commitment to our planet and our dedication to fostering a sustainable future. I encourage everyone to join in this initiative and reflect on the small changes we can make to protect our environment.
Additionally, we look forward to our Mother's Day Mass and Breakfast on Thursday, 8 May. This special annual event celebrates and honours the incredible mothers and mother figures within our community. We hope to see many of you there to share in this celebration.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we can achieve great things.
