Winter Uniform Changeover

With the weather cooling down it’s time to think about winter uniform.

All students are expected to be in winter uniform by Monday 5 May so it may be wise to check that you have all the necessary items and that they are in a good condition and still fit.

All year 7 and 10 students will be in the new winter uniform whilst students in other year levels may still wear the older styles. The new dress and short sleeve shirts are not part of the winter uniform. The old style long sleeve shirt still requires that the College tie is worn with it. It is acceptable for students in years 8, 9, 11 and 12 to wear a mix of old and new styles.

Winter Uniform

  • College navy tailored shorts or College navy skirt or College Navy tailored trousers (Grey for Years 8,9,11,12 permissible in 2025).
  • Long sleeve College shirt (new style for Years 7 & 10 in 2025).
  • College tie optional (new style for Years 7 & 10 in 2025).
  • College jumper (Year 12 – Navy Blue).
  • Soft Shell College jacket or College Blazer.
  • College scarf (new style for yr 7 and 10 in 2025).
  • College navy socks or navy tights (skirt must be worn with tights for winter). (Grey for yrs 8,9,11,12 permissible for 2025).
  • Black, polishable lace up traditional supportive school shoes which are fully enclosed and solid with a heel.

Country Bus Passes (Ad Hoc Requests)

If you require a one-off country bus pass, or a pass for multiple dates (e.g. travel to Dookie for football training), you are required to submit a request form to the Bus Coordinator at GSSC. This form must be submitted at least five working days in advance.

Please be aware that your request may be declined or placed on a waitlist if the bus is already at capacity.

Every day counts: Term 1 Attendance

As we wrap up Term 1, it’s a great time to reflect on the importance of attending school every day—and how we're tracking across year levels.

Here’s a snapshot of our Term 1 attendance rates:

· Year 7: 93.0%

· Year 8: 90.8%

· Year 9: 89.3%

· Year 10: 89.5%

· Year 11: 87.9%

· Year 12: 91.6%

While many students are maintaining excellent attendance, there’s still room for improvement. Missing just one or two days a fortnight adds up quickly, and it can make it harder to stay on top of learning, assessments, and the connections that come with daily school life.

Regular attendance sets students up for success, not just academically, but socially and emotionally too. Each day brings new lessons, group work, and chances to build confidence and independence. For secondary school students, every day at school also plays a big role in preparing for future pathways like further study or employment.

Let’s aim higher in Term 2! Every day really does count.

What to Do if Your Child Can’t Attend School

Parents and carers are legally required to ensure their child attends school every day. If your child is absent, please let the school know as soon as possible (whether by phone, or via SEQTA).

For planned absences longer than three days, such as family holidays, please contact your child’s Head of House/Community. They will work with you to create an absence learning plan to help your child stay on track while away.

Exciting Collaboration with The Australian Ballet

We are thrilled to share the highlights of our recent collaboration with The Australian Ballet! Our students had the incredible opportunity to participate in 10 hours of free training workshops, where they honed their skills under the guidance of professional dancers. This enriching experience culminated in a spectacular performance on Thursday, 3rd April at Riverlinks Eastbank, where our students showcased their talents alongside students from other schools.

The dedication and hard work of our students were evident in every graceful movement, and the performance was a testament to their growth and passion for dance. We are immensely proud of their achievements and grateful to The Australian Ballet for providing this unforgettable experience.

ANZAC Day 2025

Notre Dame College students and teachers played significant roles across the region on ANZAC Day. A heartfelt thank you to students Elena Radevski, Kiera Shaw, Will Clurey, Gracielle Igat, Lexi Parnell, Lila Hernandez and Alexander McKinnon. And we know many others contributed also.

Thank you for your selfless contribution to commemorate those who have sacrificed their lives over the past 110 years to allow us the freedom and peace we now enjoy.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn; At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. LEST WE FORGET 🌺
