Year 10 Retreat and Wellbeing Days

Recently our Year 10 students gathered for two days of prayer, reflection and workshops. One day focused on students exploring their own vocation and what God might be calling them to with a focus on values, beliefs, passions and acts of service.

The second day allowed students the opportunity to focus on what their futures might hold and they were provided with the tools to help make the big decisions in life. Students were also provided with great guidance on the appropriate use of screens and social media and they enjoyed dance practice for their upcoming Ball.

We thank all our students and staff who attended for their openness and enthusiasm across the two days and are grateful for all those who presented and facilitated the two day program.

12 VCE-VM Literacy – Shark Tank Challenge

Mrs Brown’s VM Literacy students took on the Understanding and Engaging with Literacy for Advocacy unit by designing and pitching a product in a high-energy ‘Shark Tank’-style presentation.

Students explored branding, personal identity, and how words, images, and multimedia work together to deliver a powerful, persuasive message. Students tested their product descriptions in ChatGPT to see what image it would create, and whether it matched their vision! Below are just two examples from the project, with all students delivering impressive work.

Product: NDC Order-to-go app

“Imagine a world where buying school lunch is effortless, fast, and tailored just for you! Our new NDC Order-To-Go App lets you order your lunch right from class. With the new phone Government policy, buying lunch is so difficult. Students miss out on food every day because their only form of payment is Apple Pay…and we can't use our phones at school, right?

Right now, all school canteens are stuck in the past. Paper orders, cash payments, and chaotic queues leave not only the staff overwhelmed, but the students are ultimately disappointed and hungry, when they can’t pay easily.

Our solution? NDC Order-To-Go. This app is a user-friendly mobile and web app designed specifically for our school, students, and canteen. With just a few quick taps, students can view the canteen menu from their home, place orders and pay online through a system designed to work the same as Apple Pay. Our very own Notebook Service Centre will install it straight onto our desktops.

Unlike other lunch order apps, NDC OTG is designed specifically for the Notre Dame community. It connects with school timetables, (including extended pastoral group and assembly timetables), allows for allergies and dietary requirements, and sends notifications about daily specials and order cut off times. A newly added feature, called Commendation Credits, acts like a reward system, and allows students to purchase food with points received upon receiving Student Commendations. And to make it even easier, our app remembers your order history, letting you buy your lunch in one quick tap.

This app will change the lives of all students, staff, and busy families. Don't just take our word for it, check the 5-star reviews from NDC OTG users all around the school! Lunch sorted in seconds. Organised, efficient and easy - just the way we like it. Download the app today!

Year 12 Charity Ball

Last Friday our Year 12 cohort came together to raise money for the Education First Youth Foyer Shepparton with 100% of the proceeds made from the night being donated to them to help kids in need.

With the night beginning at 7pm, the students had one simple theme to follow as the dress code: "Little You". It was great to see everyone getting involved, even the staff!

A few special thanks to certain people that made this night achieveable:

- Takeova Security for keeping everyone safe

- I Love This Shop Shepparton for making the balloon garland, arch and table balloons-

- Renato's Florist for supplying the white stand for the poster

- Shepparton United FNC for letting us use their club rooms and volunteering as bar staff

- All of the NDC staff who volunteered their time to supervise the night

- Tess Maloney for organising and making the food

- Finally, Pip Robinson for helping to organise the event.

Thank you to all who contributed to make the night one to remember.
