Tomorrow the Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of The Sacred Heart of Jesus which symbolises Christ's divine love for all of humanity. It is the embodiment of Jesus’ compassionate love, mercy, and suffering for all people.

Pope Benedict XVI wrote beautifully of the Sacred Heart reminding us that:

“The Sacred Heart is not merely a sentimental image but a theological reality that invites believers into a deeper relationship with Christ through contemplation, prayer, and the Eucharist.” He explained that “In the Heart of Jesus, the centre of Christianity is set before us.” For Benedict, the Sacred Heart is the “organ for seeing God.”

This devotion to the Sacred Heart calls all of us to imitate Jesus’ love in our own lives, fostering compassion and humility. It remains a powerful symbol of divine love and a source of comfort and inspiration for millions of Catholics around the world. In contemplating the Sacred Heart of Jesus we must ask ourselves where we too must show greater love to others? This could be in our own families, friendship groups, communities and places of work.

The more love there is in the world the greater the world will be.
