Tree Planting Day is the College’s way of giving our community the chance to show their solidarity with creation by regenerating our earth with native vegetation. The planting was conducted in partnership with Greater Shepparton Council at Yakka Reserve in Shepparton.
Our Terra Tomodachi Coordinator, Phil Guthrie was super proud of all the students for giving up valuable class time to do their bit for the environment.
During the excursion, students participated in a special presentation from the museum’s conservator, who provided valuable insights into the care and conservation of artworks. The conservator explained in detail how artworks are prepared, monitored, and maintained before, during, and after an exhibition. Students gained an understanding of the measures taken to protect artworks on display, including environmental controls, handling procedures, and storage practices.
The presentation was highly engaging and offered a professional perspective on the behind-the-scenes processes that ensure artworks such as Whiteley’s remain preserved for future audiences.
This was a meaningful experience that supported our students’ studies in conservation and care, directly linking classroom learning with real-world gallery practice.
