My advice to Year 8 and 9 students is to choose subjects from a wide range, so that they can have a full experience to identify what areas they enjoy and perhaps what areas are not so enjoyable for them. For Year 10 and 11 students, my advice is to choose from the subjects that bring you interest and achievement.
Don’t forget to read the Subject and Programme Guides and the Senior Pathways Subject and Programme Guide on our website, and please contact the Careers or Learning and Teaching teams if you have any questions.
Our Unit 2 Outdoor Education students have been enjoying some amazing snow at Falls Creek this week. This experience will form part of their second assessment outcome where they evaluate the impacts of conservation, economic and recreational activities in a range of outdoor environments.
On Monday afternoon, our aspirant 2026 College and House Captains heard from our Mayor, Mr Shane Sali. Shane shared his thoughts on what it takes to be an effective leader, and he had the attention of all the participants for the entire time. He spoke about being authentic, how to make difficult and unpopular decisions at times and to persevere when things aren’t always going your way. I am looking forward to reading the student applications for the leadership positions after they close next Monday.
On Friday evening our Year 12 Student Leaders have organised a Charity Ball for their peers. This will be a great way to connect and at the same time, raise funds for a local organisation. They have chosen Education First Youth Foyer Foundation to receive these. The Foyer, as it is known in Shepparton, provides housing and support for young people to continue in education when they are facing homelessness.
Enjoy the next week ahead everyone.
