I would like to begin by thanking our Year 10 students and their families for their understanding and flexibility last Friday when we made the decision to run supervised study classes. With senior GMD sports taking place and a significant number of staff unwell, this adjustment ensured we could maintain a safe and supervised environment for all students. Your support is deeply appreciated.

A gentle reminder that if your son or daughter is unwell, please keep them at home to rest and recover. This helps prevent illnesses from spreading through the College community and supports the wellbeing of students and staff alike.

Last Friday’s GMD sports day was a wonderful showcase of sportsmanship and community spirit. Congratulations to all students who represented Notre Dame College—you made us incredibly proud. I was especially heartened to receive feedback such as the following:

“I would like to relay my thanks to the group of students from the Seniors Team from Notre Dame for helping to support our team and provide players to make up the numbers. Further, I am very impressed with the level of respect and support these senior students showed our team from Berry Street School. They tried to enhance the experience for our students and didn't try to take over or be disrespectful in any way.”

Feedback like this reflects the character we strive to develop in our young people—kindness, respect, and a spirit of service.

I hope that all students enjoyed their extended long weekend and used the opportunity to rest, recharge, and catch up on any overdue learning tasks while staff participated in our Marist Spirituality Day on Tuesday. The theme for the day was Full of Grace—inviting us to reflect on what grace is, how we express it in daily life, where we encounter it, and the scriptural foundations that guide us. We explored how, as a community, we can continue to grow in grace.

This theme connected beautifully with our College focus for the year: “Pursuing Peace with Grace.” The alignment between the two reminded us of the importance of approaching our relationships, our work, and our challenges with gentleness, understanding, and a commitment to peace.
