So far in Semester 1, attendance across the school has been positive, with most year levels maintaining attendance between 87% and 92%. Current attendance averages are:
- Year 7: 92.2%
- Year 8: 91.9%
- Year 9: 88.4%
- Year 10: 89.4%
- Year 11: 87.4%
- Year 12: 87.6%
Students across most year levels have averaged around two days absent this semester, with Years 9 and 11 averaging three days absent so far.
While this is encouraging, our goal remains 100% attendance, because every day of learning matters. Research shows that missing just one day a fortnight adds up to almost four weeks of school missed over the year.
Learning builds day by day. Lessons connect to previous knowledge, and valuable classroom discussions, group activities, and teacher feedback are difficult to replace when students are absent. Regular attendance also supports students’ wellbeing by helping them maintain routines, build friendships, and stay connected to their school community.
Families play an important role in supporting strong attendance. Notre Dame College encourages families to:
- Establish consistent morning routines
- Schedule appointments outside school hours where possible
- Communicate with the College if a student is experiencing challenges that may affect attendance
