Dear Parents and Guardians,

This week is Harmony Wee, and our College will be celebrating with a Harmony Day assembly on Friday 21 March.

Harmony Week is a time to recognise and celebrate our diversity, bringing together Australians from all backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect, and a shared sense of belonging for everyone in our community.

This year, we are encouraging all students to reflect on their heritage and celebrate their culture on Harmony Day. While last year some students wore cultural attire, this year we extend the invitation to all students—not just those participating in the Harmony procession or assembly.

Please see the Harmony Day Promotional Video from our students and media team.

On Friday, 21 March, all students may wear:
Cultural or heritage attire – discuss your heritage with your family and celebrate with cultural attire.
Casual clothing incorporating orange – Orange is the official colour of Harmony Day. For example, an orange T-shirt with jeans or a similar combination.
Sports guernseys representing cultural heritage – This includes national team guernsey or club guernseys that have a cultural significance. (For example, a Roma football guernsey for students with Italian heritage linked to Rome.)

Dress Guidelines – What is NOT Permitted:

❌ Casual clothing that does not intentionally celebrate heritage or include orange. Students choosing casual wear must reflect the significance of Harmony Day in some way.
AFL guernseys, unless they are an Indigenous guernsey designed to honour Sir Doug Nicholls and Indigenous culture.

Important:
Students timetabled for PE, Sports Academy, or Technology subjects must change into their appropriate College uniform for these classes.

Please note that if students are not comfortable wearing attire that reflects their culture, heritage, or orange, they should wear normal school uniform.

Thank you for supporting Harmony Day and for celebrating culture, unity, and inclusion at our College.

Regards,

Mr Giuliani

Sustainability News

Terra Tomadachi is winning the war on soft plastic use - student are getting behind the push to eliminate soft plastics from Notre Dame’s main oval.

A number of students are bringing their lunch to school in re-usable containers and as a result, the volume of waste being left on the oval is reducing.

Soft plastics include zip lock bags, glad wrap, crisp and chip bags, lollies or muesli bar wrappers—anything plastic that is scrunchable.

All it takes is for everyone to do their part and say NO to soft plastics.
