On Tuesday, at the Remembrance Day Service, we were well represented by two of our 2026 College Captains, wreath presenters Elena Redevski and Gabe Garner, and by Abbie Costa-Row, who sang two official songs.

All of our students were also shown a video prepared by the Media Team and Student Leaders in morning pastoral group about the significance of Remembrance Day - a day where we can all pause to honour and remember all Australians who have died or suffered in wars, conflicts, and peace operations. Last Friday, we hosted a professional development programme for learning leaders in English, Maths and Science on the OCHRE curriculum. We had around 40 visitors to the College, and their feedback from the day was pleasing to hear. They commented favourably about everything they saw – clean classrooms and corridors, students taking pride in wearing their uniform, calm and engaged classes, and the amazing facilities and great food from our canteen.

It’s easy to forget how well we do things at Notre Dame College when you are immersed in it everyday, so to have other educators make these comments reminds us that we are indeed very fortunate.

Thank you to Deputy Principal, Kris Walker and the Learning and Teaching Team for facilitating the day. Along with other learning leaders from across Sandhurst, I was fortunate to attend a whole day workshop from Teach Well on Tuesday.

Teach Well is a registered social enterprise that was established to provide support for teachers and school leaders to improve outcomes for the students, and bridges the gap between research and practice – to give educators the support they need to deliver truly transformative learning experiences for every student.

After our work on the neuroscience of learning, Teach Well will give us the strategies and principles to make sure all students are fully participating in the learning that happens in their classrooms. We will be using an instructional coaching model with our teachers to support them with the implementation of Teach Well.

Year 10 and 11 exams start next Friday. For our Year 10s, this is their second experience of doing exams. I hope they have learnt some effective revision skills from Semester 1 that that they can refine and apply for their Semester 2 subjects.
