All staff, teaching and non-teaching, were involved in the Catholic Education Sandhurst Ltd Spirituality Day on Wednesday.

This day allowed us to explore our culture of spirituality and community. We heard from Fr Jake Mudge on what it means to be a pilgrim, and how we can use this ancient lens in a modern world. Fr Jake explained that by being a pilgrim, we can discover more about ourselves, reflect on our lives, share our experiences with others, and determine what gives us life and purpose.

We also focussed on the lives of mystics, those who seek a deep connection with God, and what we can take from their experiences. This included Dorothy Day, Mother Theresa, Francis of Assisi and Thomas Merton.

We sincerely thank our families for making alternative arrangements for our student free day. We recognise that this is not always easy and truly appreciate your support.

This Friday we have our Feast of Assumption Mass. This Feast celebrates the life of the Holy Mother, Mary, and her assumption into heaven. This is one of the most significant feast days on the Catholic calendar, and we will be fortunate to have Fr Joe Taylor lead us in his final College Mass before his retirement in September.

We have been extremely fortunate to have Fr Joe in our community, and he will be greatly missed. He is a remarkable man and has been a constant source of support and inspiration for Notre Dame College.

Hopefully, all students in years 7 to 11 have now finalised their subject selections for 2026. Please ensure deadlines are met, as these selections play a crucial role in shaping our staffing and timetabling for the year ahead.

We are currently experiencing a high number of teacher and student absences due to illness. The winter colds and viruses are certainly about and it’s important to remember to put preventative measures in place – wash hands often, cover nose and mouth when sneezing or coughing, and importantly, stay home if you’re unwell. We are doing our best to ensure classes are covered during staff absences.

Enjoy the week ahead.
