On Wednesday, 13 August our entire staff community gathered for our Catholic Education Sandhurst Spirituality Day.

The day commenced with Fr Jake Mudge who spoke to us all about the importance of pilgrimage and encouraged us all to see our own lives as a pilgrimage. Focusing on the role of a pilgrim as someone who is on a faith journey, he highlighted that each day we must be open to finding the moments were God may be talking to us.

Staff were then able to choose from a range of workshops which all focused on different mystics in the Catholic tradition. Staff were introduced to the famous Trappist monk, Thomas Merton who continually encouraged people to find moments of contemplation in everyday life, Dorothy Day who bravely spoke out against the Second World War in the US much to the annoyance of most people at the time, Mother Teresa who always reminded people to start with love in any situation and the great St Francis of Assisi who was one of the first champions for advocating for care for our environment.

It was a great opportunity to gather as a Catholic community, spend time together exploring inspiring people of faith and sharing our thoughts and learnings from the day.

Have a great week.
