We have recently celebrated the one year anniversary of the election of Pope Leo XIV.

From the outset, his leadership style has emphasised compassion, dialogue, and a deep commitment to the spiritual needs of both traditional and emerging communities.

He has inspired many through his thoughtful homilies and his willingness to engage with contemporary issues while remaining firmly grounded in the rich traditions of Catholic teaching. This balance has encouraged a growing sense of connection among believers, strengthening faith communities across diverse cultures and regions.

Throughout the year, Pope Leo XIV has also demonstrated a profound dedication to social justice and outreach. His initiatives have promoted care for the poor, environmental stewardship, and reconciliation among divided groups, reflecting a Church that is active and responsive in the modern world.

By fostering collaboration between religious and secular organisations, he has elevated the Church’s role as a force for good, compassion, and understanding. His vision has inspired many to live out their faith more actively, contributing to a sense of optimism about the Church’s future under his guidance.

It seems Pope Leo will soon release his first Encyclical which will be his first major teaching and will give us a deeper understanding of the Pope that Pope Leo XIV wishes to be.
