Important Reminder for Students

Feeling Unwell at School

If you are feeling unwell during the school day:

  • Do not contact your parents directly to be picked up.
  • Go straight to Student Reception, and staff will contact your parents for you.

This ensures your situation is handled safely and recorded correctly.

Please note: If you are found using your phone during school hours, your Head of House (HOH) or Head of Campus (HOC) will be notified.

Student Leave Passes – What You Need to Know

If you need to leave school during the day:

  • Do not ask your parents to call the school for a leave pass, as messages cannot always be delivered to students quickly.
  • Bring a written note from home stating the time you need to leave.
  • When it’s time to go:
    • Show the note to your teacher
    • Then go to Student Reception to sign out
    • Please allow extra time for this process
  • If you return to school after your appointment:
    • Sign back in at Student Reception before returning to class

Thank you for following these processes and helping us keep everyone safe and organised during the school day.

Why Student Wellbeing Matters

We know that students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and connected to school. Wellbeing plays a big role in how students engage with their learning each day.Across the school, we continue to support student wellbeing through:

  • pastoral care and mentoring programs
  • learning support and classroom adjustments
  • regular communication with families

When students feel settled and supported, they are more likely to:

  • participate in class
  • stay focused on their learning
  • build positive relationships with peers and teachers
  • keep going when learning becomes challenging

What this means for your child:

Wellbeing and learning are closely linked. When one is supported, the other improves as well.

How you can support at home:

  • Check in regularly about how your child is feeling about school
  • Encourage balance between schoolwork, rest, and activities
  • Help them manage stress by keeping routines consistent
  • Reach out to the school if you notice changes or concerns

If you have any thoughts, comments or feedback, please contact Lena Cross at lena.cross@notredame.vic.edu.au.

Bus Travellers

Bus Behaviour Reminder for Families

We would like to make families aware that there have been some recent concerns regarding student behaviour on school buses. In particular, issues have included the use of inappropriate language and rubbish being left behind.

We kindly ask for your support in reinforcing with your child the importance of respectful and safe behaviour while travelling on the bus.

Students are expected to:

  • Use respectful and appropriate language
  • Treat others with kindness and consideration
  • Follow all instructions given by the bus driver
  • Refrain from behaviours such as bullying, aggression, vandalism, smoking, or vaping
  • Take all rubbish with them when leaving the bus

These expectations are in place to ensure that bus travel remains safe and pleasant for all students.

We would also like to acknowledge and thank the vast majority of our students who consistently display respectful behaviour while travelling. Their efforts are greatly appreciated and contribute to a positive environment for everyone.

Thank you for your continued support.

Learning Landscapes come to Life for the Goulburn Valley Youth Environment Congress

Students from across the region gathered at our Emmaus campus for the second annual Goulburn Valley Youth Environment Congress.

The congress is an initiative of our NDC Terra Tomodachi team designed to give high school students the chance to come together to share ideas and embrace the challenges currently being faced by our beautiful earth.

Galen College, Greater Shepparton Secondary College, St Anne’s College and All Saints College students joined with us for this fantastic day of learning, interacting, experiencing and brainstorming.

Can’t wait to do it all again, bigger and better, for next year.

MacKillop and McGann - Disability Inclusion and Awareness Campaign

Yesterday, July 14, MacKillop and McGann houses welcomed four inspiring guest speakers: Geoff Wills, David Harcoan, Bianca Dyball and Shane Dalzell.

Each speaker shared their personal journey of living with disability, speaking openly about the challenges they have faced and the opportunities they have embraced. Their visit was a fitting way to conclude the highly meaningful campaign that featured wheelchair basketball, inclusive Pastoral Group activities, and the much-loved Odd Socks Day.

We extend our sincere thanks to our guest speakers for generously sharing their experiences.

A special congratulations goes to our House Captains, Holly, Lucy, Tahlie and Anastasia. They planned disability inclusion activities for our senior students, and interviewed our guest speakers, creating opportunities for learning through participation and discussion.

We are additionally proud of our MacKillop and McGann Year 8 Student Leaders, who led Wednesday morning Pastoral Group inclusion activities throughout Term 2. Thank you also to Natalie and Danielle, who assisted with interviewing our guest speakers alongside our House Captains.

The MacKillop and McGann Heads of Houses would like to thank every student and staff member who supported this year's Disability Inclusion and Awareness Campaign! Our community has wholeheartedly taken the opportunity to listen, learn and reflect. Having these conversations are what help build a school where everyone feels that they belong.
