Year 11 Art Making and Exhibiting Visit to SAM

Our Year 11 Art Making and Exhibiting students recently visited Shepparton Art Museum (SAM) to explore the Facing Modernity: Degas to Picasso exhibition, the Archibald Prize portrait exhibition and the Young Archie exhibition.

Students investigated how artworks are selected, presented and interpreted within a thematic exhibition, while considering the ways exhibition design, curation, display and artwork labels contribute to the viewer’s experience.

The visit was also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the work of young artists, with several of our students able to see their own artworks displayed as part of the Young Archie exhibition. It was a valuable experience that connected students’ classroom learning with the professional gallery environment and encouraged them to think about how their own artworks could be exhibited and experienced by an audience.

VCE Music Performance Night

The VCE Music Performance Night was a wonderful celebration of live music, bringing together students, families and staff for an evening of performance and entertainment!

Music students showcased their talents across guitar, piano, vocals and drums, presenting a diverse program that reflected their preparation, creativity and developing confidence as performers.

VET Music Sound Production students managed the sound setup and operation throughout the event, highlighting the strong connection between performance and production. Their technical contribution ensured the performances ran smoothly while providing valuable experience in live sound production.

The lively music trivia competition sprinkled throughout quickly became a highlight as the audience competed enthusiastically for a prize. The one-hour performance was followed by supper to celebrate our students’ musical abilities, collaboration and the teamwork involved in bringing a wonderful live music event to the stage.
