As we reach the midpoint of the year, it is remarkable how quickly 2026 is progressing.
We bid farewell to Semester 1 and welcome the commencement of Semester 2—an important opportunity to reflect on our achievements to date while embracing renewed focus and energy for new electives and learning opportunities.
I would also like to extend a warm welcome to three new international teaching staff who have recently joined our College community—Mirie and Aubrey De Jagar, and Reshma Ram. We are delighted that they have chosen not only to join our staff but also to relocate their families to Shepparton. We look forward to supporting them as they settle into the community and are confident they will make a significant and positive contribution to the life of the College.
I would like to acknowledge and express sincere gratitude to Maree Geisler for her outstanding contribution to the Debutante Balls at Notre Dame College since 2009. Her dedication to the planning, coordination and preparation of students over many years has provided countless young people with memorable experiences and a strong sense of confidence and belonging.
Maree’s commitment has been exemplary, and we are deeply appreciative of the time, care and passion she has given in a voluntary capacity to this important College tradition.
On Saturday night we held the last Notre Dame College Debutante Ball, as from 2027, the Debutante Balls will transition to St Brendan’s Parish.
I would also like to thank our parents and carers for their ongoing support, particularly during our recent student-free day. While students were not onsite, our Year 12 VCE students completed the General Achievement Test (GAT). Concurrently, staff unpacked the final two elements of the CESL Cultural Covenant - How We Behave and How We Succeed which led to much rich discussion.
Staff then worked diligently to finalise Semester 1 assessments and undertake planning for Semester 2 learning programmes. These days are essential to maintaining high-quality teaching and learning, and we greatly value your partnership in supporting this work.
Another highlight has been the celebration of student creativity through the visual arts. Artwork from our Year 10 and Year 11 students is currently on display at Tank’s Gallery. This provides an opportunity for our students to showcase their talents to the broader community, and the standard of work on display is outstanding. I encourage all members of our community to visit and support this exhibition.
