Yesterday was Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent, and for our Notre Dame College community it was a moment to pause, reflect, and re‑centre our lives on the Gospel message. As students received ashes on their foreheads, they were reminded of both their humility before God and their capacity for renewal.
The simple cross of ashes invites all of us—students, staff, and families—to consider how we might grow in faith, compassion, and purpose. It is a powerful way to begin a season that calls us not to perfection, but to honest reflection and a willingness to let God work within us.
Throughout Lent, the Catholic tradition encourages us all to deepen our relationship with God through the three pillars of fasting, almsgiving, and prayer.
Fasting teaches young people self‑discipline and reminds them to make space for what is truly life‑giving. Almsgiving encourages generosity and awareness of those in need, helping students understand that faith is lived out in concrete acts of kindness. Prayer invites our community into quiet moments of connection with God, grounding us in gratitude and hope. Together, these practices guide our students toward Easter with hearts that are more open, reflective, and ready to serve.
Have a great week ahead,
