The Importance of St Joseph

Today we celebrate the Feast of St Joseph who holds a special place in the life of the Church and offers a meaningful example for families within our Notre Dame College community.

His life shows what it means to lead with quiet strength, humility, and deep trust in God. Pope Francis once reminded us that “each of us can discover in Joseph — the man who goes unnoticed, a daily, discreet, and hidden presence — an intercessor, a support, and a guide in times of trouble”. Joseph models love through action—by listening, protecting, working hard, and placing the wellbeing of Mary and Jesus above his own plans.

In the midst of busy family life, St Joseph reminds us that holiness is often found in the simple, everyday moments of life.

St Joseph also offers families a source of comfort and hope when life becomes challenging.

As a husband and father, he knew uncertainty and hardship, yet he always responded with courage and trust in God.

Families can look to him as someone who understands the pressures of family life and his example encourages us to slow down, pray, and support one another with gentleness and patience.
