Hume Region Swimming Carnival

On Friday 13 March, 26 students represented NDC at the Hume Region Swimming Carnival held in Wodonga. Against some very strong opposition, we had some fantastic results in the events with the team finishing 5^th out of 42 Schools.

Students to finish in the top 3 of the Age Group Champions award were:

• Isla Shaw 2^nd in 16yo Girls Championships
• Ethan McCracken 3^rd in 14yo Boys Championships
• Nicholas Antonello 1^st in 17yo Boys Championships

Students who won their event, and therefore qualify for the SSV State Swimming Championships held in Melbourne on 23 April were as follows:

• Ethan McCracken – 14yo Boys 50m Breaststroke
• Nicholas Antonello – 17yo Boys 50m Butterfly, 50m Backstroke, 12-20 boys 400m Freestyle
• Imogen Walsh , Amelia Baker, Idylla Damien, Mia Kalms – 14yo Girls 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay

Joseph Shay

Year 9 student Joseph Shay has been selected for the Under 15 Boys Victorian Country Team to compete in the National Emerging Socceroos Championships, to be held in Sydney from 18–24 April 2026!

Last year, Joseph received an offer from Melbourne Victory Football Club, who offered Joseph a contract for the Under 15 team for the 2025/26 season, while he was still playing for the Football Victorian Academy. Following a great pre season, he was moved up permanently to the Under 16 squad and is currently competing in the Boys Victorian Youth Premier League 1.

Joseph trains 5 times a week, travelling to Melbourne 4 times a week, while still keeping up with his studies out at Emmaus.

Joseph is a hardworking and dedicated athlete, and the College is extremely proud of his wonderful achievements.
