With only four weeks to go until the end of the College year, its timely to start to reflect on what our students and staff have achieved. Today, I will be attending the inaugural Sandhurst Awards in Bendigo with a group of students and staff who have all been recognised in a range of categories that include academic achievement, community spirit and leadership.
We are also currently nominating students for our specialist awards and identifying high academic achievers in each year level and subject as we prepare for our awards ceremony on Friday 12 December.
Our early commencement programme (ECP) will begin on December 1 for all year levels. There is further communication to our families coming very soon with all the details. ECP has now been running for a number of years and its success in setting up our students and staff for a smooth and successful transition to the next year has been overwhelmingly positive, with students engaged in meaningful and productive curriculum right up to their final day of the year.
There has been a lot of information in the news about the social media restrictions for students under the age of 16 coming into place on December 10. We have been promoting some materials for parents on our socials sites that are very useful to assist you in preparing your young people for this, but of particular note is the safety commissioner website and this report from School TV which goes through how to save information from the social media sites before they are shut down.
Our year 10 and 11 students begin exams on Friday. Hopefully they are prepared and ready to show us their very best efforts in all their subjects.
