Hume Region finals for interschool sports are underway, and we have many teams progress to the next level of competition. Congratulations to our junior soccer, junior and senior badminton, clay target, senior football and netball teams who all progressed to the next level of competitions over the past few days. A special mention to the senior boys’ football team who now play in the School Sports Victoria grand final in Melbourne next Tuesday. They played the quarter and semi finals yesterday, winning both games, but more affirming was the feedback on their sportsmanship they displayed – well done!
On Friday this week, we have our Caritas K’s event. This year it looks very different to the usual walk along the river to raise awareness and funds for Caritas. This year, the Faith and Ministry team have designed a walk around the oval with a challenge of carrying buckets of water to raise awareness of how Caritas provides infrastructure for communities to access clean drinking water. There will also be some competition between houses and year levels I’m sure.
The Australian Catholic Youth Festival (ACYF) will be held in December. This is a great opportunity for our senior students to experience a gathering of Catholic young people from all over Australia to connect and engage in a wide range of activities. Accommodation is at Queens College, Melbourne University with the event being held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. We have a number of sponsored positions and we are currently taking expressions of interest. Students can email Ms Annett for more information or to lodge their expression of interest.
Year 12 parents will receive a letter this week about arrangements for celebrations for end of Year 12, and practice exams during the term break. It seems hard to believe that this will soon be happening, and I encourage all our Year 12 students to ensure all their outcomes and assessments are submitted on time and for those sitting exams, revision is beginning.
Have a great week ahead,
Emma Reynoldson
Acting Principal
