Since 2021, the College has been involved with the Australians Together project, with two researchers from Deakin University gathering insights into the experiences of our Indigenous students in secondary school. On Monday evening, the researchers shared their findings with staff and our Indigenous families at a community barbecue.
The results were affirming in several areas—particularly the strength of our Year 9 curriculum—while also highlighting important opportunities for growth across other parts of the College. These insights will guide our next steps as we continue working closely with students, families, and staff to ensure every Indigenous student feels a strong sense of belonging, connection, and success in their learning.
Our Year 9 students are also preparing for their upcoming Daborra experience. To support this, a number of preparatory activities are planned for Wednesday, helping students build confidence and understanding ahead of the program. We will also hold a Parent Information Session on Wednesday evening, and we strongly encourage families to attend as we outline expectations, learning intentions, and key details.
This week we also look forward to gathering as a whole school community for our College Opening Mass on Thursday. This is always a special occasion—a moment to pause, reflect, and set our intentions for the year ahead. We value the opportunity to come together in faith and unity as we formally welcome the new school year.
