We are seeking a casual employee for a leave replacement role supporting our Technology Department. This hands-on position plays a vital role in assisting staff with the preparation and maintenance of wood and metalwork classes.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Preparation: Cut and machine timber and metal using equipment such as the panel saw, drop saw, thicknesser, hydraulic guillotine, hydraulic bender, and cold saw to prepare class materials.
Workshop Maintenance: Perform routine checks and basic maintenance on tools and machinery to ensure safe operation and minimise disruption to learning.
Classroom Support: Assist with the setup and pack down of practical class activities, ensuring tools and resources are ready for student use.
Consumable Management: Monitor, restock and organise consumables such as glue, sandpaper, fasteners, and safety gear. Ensure all materials are clean and ready to use.
General Workshop Duties: Keep the workshop clean, organised and in line with safety standards. Support teaching staff with day-to-day workshop operations.
Material Collection: Drive to local suppliers to collect materials as needed.
Key Requirements:
Hands-on experience using woodworking and metalworking tools and machinery.
Mechanical aptitude and ability to carry out minor maintenance tasks.
Physically capable of lifting and handling materials such as timber lengths and metal sheets.
Valid driver’s licence.
Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain one).
Incentive:
$46 per hour
