As we move towards the school holiday period we remind ourselves of the importance of rest and reflection. Taking time for rest and reflection is deeply woven into the fabric of Catholic life, echoing the example set by Jesus Himself. In the Gospels, we see Jesus frequently withdrawing from the crowds to pray and rest, reminding us that even the Son of God needed moments of quiet for rest and reflection.
Through practices like the Examen or silent prayer, we are invited to look inward and recognise God’s presence in our daily lives. These moments of stillness allow us to discern His will, grow in gratitude, and seek healing where needed. In a world that often promotes constant activity, the Catholic tradition gently calls us to slow down and listen.
By following Jesus’ example of retreat and reflection, we open ourselves to deeper intimacy with God and a more grounded, grace-filled life. It also allows us to be able to return for term 3 rested and renewed for another term of learning.
