Welcome to the Careers Team

We are delighted to welcome Abbey Monk to Notre Dame College and the Careers Team as our new Careers and Pathways Advisor.

A former Notre Dame College student, Abbey brings a wealth of local knowledge and experience to the role. Over the past five years with GMLLEN, Abbey has worked closely with schools across the Shepparton region, supporting students to explore and access a range of career pathways and events.

Abbey’s experience includes helping students secure placements such as School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) and apprenticeship opportunities, as well as coordinating and delivering successful careers-focused events such as Careers Day Out.

Through this work, she has developed a strong understanding of the diverse pathways available to young people and a passion for helping students achieve their goals.

A keen sportsperson and strong advocate for lifelong learning, Abbey has also completed Career Development training, further strengthening her ability to guide and support students in making informed decisions about their futures.
We are excited to have Abbey join the team and look forward to the expertise, enthusiasm, and positive contribution she will bring to our students, families, and school community.

VTAC Applications Opening

For Year 12 students considering university, TAFE, or other tertiary study in 2027, VTAC applications will open on 3 August. This marks the beginning of the application process for Victorian tertiary courses.

Parents can support their child by encouraging them to:

  • Research courses and career pathways.
  • Attend Open Days and information sessions.
  • Create a shortlist of preferred courses.
  • Use a personal email address (not their school email) when setting up their VTAC account.
  • While course preferences can be changed later, now is the ideal time to begin exploring options and discussing future plans as a family.

Term 3 Careers Appointments

As we move into Term 3, our Careers Team will be focusing heavily on supporting our Year 12 students as they navigate important decisions relating to university, TAFE, apprenticeships, traineeships, employment, early entry programs, and VTAC applications.

As a result, general Careers appointments for students in Years 9–11 will be limited throughout Term 3. We encourage students and families to plan and book appointments early where possible.

The good news is that the Careers Team will be present and available at all Subject Selection Information Sessions, providing advice and guidance to students and families as they make decisions about their 2027 pathways and subject choices.

Thank you for your understanding and support as we ensure our Year 12 students receive the assistance they need during this critical stage of their education journey.
