Touch Football - School Sport Victoria (SSV)

Giaan Williamson (Year 9) has been selected to represent Notre Dame at the School Sport Championships in October for the 15 and Under girls’ touch football. This will be her 3rd year making an SSV team for touch. Giaan’s skills and hard work throughout the years have clearly paid off. She will now be training every Sunday in Melbourne to prepare for the upcoming competition.

Alyssa Williamson (Year 11) has sadly aged out and can’t compete as a player. However, she was offered the opportunity to join the Under 12 girls as the assistant coach. This will be an amazing opportunity for her, to both further grow her knowledge and share it with younger girls.

Touch Football - National Youth Championships (NYC)

During the Term 2 holidays, 3 students from Notre Dame and the local Shepparton Touch Football Association trialled for a place on a National Youth touch team. Alyssa Williamson (Year 11), Jayden Crossley (Year 11) and Giaan Williamson (Year 9) all trialled extremely well, showing great talent and sportsmanship.

Giaan and Alyssa were both selected to compete in the 16 and Under girls team at NYC, during the Term 3 school holidays which will be held at Coffs Harbour. Giaan is also 1 of the 4 Under 14’s girls that trialled and were successfully selected to be part of the 16 girls team, which is a massive achievement in itself.

Due to low numbers attending the 18 and Under boys trials, it is unfortunate that Jayden couldn’t continue on with his journey this year as Touch Football Victoria decided to pull the 18 boys team out of the competition.

Touch is an excellent way to improve your fitness and communication skills, as well as being a low contact sport, offering both boys and girls of all ages the opportunity to have fun and connect with other like minded people in the community, and maybe even in the state. Whether you want to play for fun or go on to join a national or state team, Shepparton touch is an excellent place to start your touch journey. I encourage you to keep an eye out because Shepparton touch is starting back up next term, and who knows, maybe next year you can represent your state as well!
