Friday 25 October we celebrated World Teachers’ Day to honour the dedication, passion and positive impact teachers make every day. As educators, they shape not just students’ academic paths, but their values, confidence and aspirations. They play an essential role in preparing students to tackle the challenges of tomorrow.
On this special day, we wanted to express our heartfelt gratitude for their hard work, creativity and commitment to making a difference. Whether it’s guiding students through new concepts, supporting their emotional wellbeing or inspiring them to dream big, their contributions are immeasurable.
Thank you teachers

Last week, our Year 11 PE class participated in a Wheelchair Basketball and Recumbent Cycling session facilitated by Simon Fox from Goulburn Valley Gangarru Parasports, at the Shepparton Sports Stadium.
Students were taught how to operate the recumbent bikes and navigate the court in a wheelchair while testing out their agility, speed, and coordination while taking shots, passing the ball, and defending against opposing players.
Thank you for a great session @gvgangarru
On Tuesday 22 October the Year 9 Big Bang Theory class took the first step to achieving their travel plans. Each student built their rocket according to their own design, looking at variables like wing design, material and aerodynamics.
These stomp rockets were launched from the Emmaus Space Centre (aka the oval at Emmaus). The height of each launch was determined and compared to the average of the group. Using these results, the students were able to determine which design features worked the best.
In a couple of decades, these students may be looking down at Emmaus from outer space.
Terra Tomadachi will officially open a thrift shop in the previous College Uniform Shop situated in Corio Avenue.
After tireless planning 11 dedicated members made up of both students and teachers within NDC’s sustainability group, will finally get to share their hard work with the community.
The Thrift Shop started as a one-off event and the Terra Tomadachi group decided to bring it back as a permanent shop.
Since the commencement of the year, a group of students have been planning, collecting and sorting donated clothes from friends, the College and the wider community to prepare for the launch of the Thrift Shop. Often these students stayed after school to work on this project.
The group’s goal has been to reduce textile waste. When the Uniform shop closed all of the second hand uniforms and items that were not collected or sold would have gone to waste. Heidi Vanderspek, who is the leader of this project said that “rather than wasting these clothes we should try to make a difference within our school.”
As proof of its certain success, the group has already made their first sale: while finalising the detail in the store, a student entered looking for a new summer shirt. The group had just finished pricing everything and were able to sell him the required shirt. At the end of the visit, the student walked out with a full set of summer, winter and sport uniforms. The group gained confidence in their project and an $85 sale.
The Thrift Shop will be selling second had school unform as well as casual clothes priced from $5 to $25. Half of the profits from sales will be donated to Caritas while the other half will be reinvested into Terra Tomadachi to fund future projects.
The Terra Tomadachi team hope to support the school community by providing an alternative to buying uniform items; they also hope to help by reducing waste.
The Notre Dame Thrift Shop will be open every Wednesday from 3:15PM to 4:00PM.
Items will be listed on a website (to be advised) for customers to take a look before coming to the shop.
More information and details about opening times will be advised soon.
We invite you to support the Terra Tomadachi team by either buying or donating clothes or just taking a look around the shop.
By taking this step towards a sustainable future we hope to share our vision with both the school and wider community through projects like the Thrift Shop.
