Feast of St Marcellin Champagnat

This coming Saturday we celebrate the Feast Day of St Marcellin Champagnat, the founder of the Marist Brothers.

St Marcellin is central to the identity and mission of Notre Dame College as a school with close connections to the Marist story. His vision of education—grounded in humility, simplicity, and a deep love for young people—continues to shape our College’s culture.

St. Marcellin believed that every child should be known, loved, and nurtured, especially those most in need. He had great emphasis on encouraging students to grow not only academically but also spiritually and morally, forming compassionate and responsible members of the community.

His great quote, “To educate children, you must first love them, and love them all equally,” sums up what a Marist education is all about.

The Marist values of family spirit, service, and a love of work, continue to inspire us all through the way we educate and support all members of our community.

Our College will continue to seek the inspiration of St Marcellin in all we do and we pray for all members of the Marist family around the world that we will all continue to live lives guided by the great example of St Marcellin Champagnat.
