Teachers Aide Appreciation Week 2026 31 Aug - 4 Sept

A special week dedicated to recognise the vital role teacher aides (also known as education support staff or teacher assistants) play in supporting students and teachers.

This week, we celebrate the dedication, compassion, patience, and expertise of teacher aides who make a meaningful difference in the lives of students every day. Their support helps create positive learning environments where every student can thrive, feel supported, and achieve their full potential.

From everyone at Notre Dame College, THANK YOU to all teacher aides for the incredible work you do. Your commitment does not go unnoticed, and our schools and communities are stronger because of you.

Season of Creation Assembly

On Tuesday, the College held our annual Season of Creation Assembly. Led by our Terra Tomodachi students, it marked a time to come together as a whole school community to express gratitude for the sacred beauty of our natural environment.

The assembly included a parade of over 60 hand crafted posters designed by Notre Dame College students, highlighting issues within our society and ways we can treat the Earth better.

Our College band presented a captivating rendition of "The Seed" by AURORA. The impactful song featured lyrics "When the last tree has fallen, and the rivers are poisoned, you cannot eat money," highlighting the urgent need to save our planet from harm.

Year 12 Student Oscar Emmanuelli stood up to announce the Terra Tomodachi “One Per Day” campaign, encouraging all staff and students to pick up one piece of litter per day.

The assembly also marked the beginning of the first ever Notre Dame College Container Deposit Scheme (CDS) Challenge, in which House teams competed to land cans into our specialised Container Deposit Scheme bins. While Mungovan house scored the most, our houses will continue to compete to recycle the most cans by the end of the term.

Ultimately, the assembly was a positive way to spend the first day of Spring and the Season of Creation.

Father's Day Breakfast

On Thursday morning, the College held our annual Father's Day Breakfast, welcoming father-figures and families to share a bacon and egg roll, listen to some live music, and celebrate this special occasion together.

Thank you to all who attended, and Happy Father's Day!
