Tomorrow we celebrate the Feast of St Marcellin Champagnat who founded the Marist Brothers back in Southern France in 1817. This group of young men were the beginnings of a worldwide religious order who focused on the education of young people and the witnessing of the love of Christ to all. Their focus on Mary the Mother of God was foundational in their charism.
It was the Marist Brothers many years later who founded St Colman’s here in Shepparton which later became part of Notre Dame College. We are grateful for the wonderful work they did over many years in Shepparton and we continue to honour the work of the Marist Brothers and their founder Marcellin through celebrations each year.
Marist Solidarity are an international agency for the aid and development work of the Marist family in Australia throughout Asia and the Pacific Islands helping to support locally sustained education opportunities for the young people in these regions.
We pray that the ongoing intercession of St Marcellin Champagnat continues to support us here at Notre Dame College as we continue the great work he started more than 200 years ago.

Year 9 House Leaders and senior students represented Notre Dame College at the Catholic Education Sandhurst LTD Mass for Healing and Justice held during National Reconciliation Week at St. Joseph’s Church in Benalla on Friday 30th May.
The National Reconciliation Week 2025 theme, Bridging Now to Next, reflects the ongoing connection between past, present and future. At a time when Australia faces uncertainty in its reconciliation journey, this theme calls on all Australians to step forward together.
Bridging Now to Next urges us to look ahead and continue the push forward as past lessons guide us. This is a time for growth, reflection, and commitment to walking together.
